La Purge

Between the 1950s and the mid-1990s, more than 9,000 Canadian federal government employees were victims of an unprecedented purge in the name of state security. Their alleged crime? Being homosexual when in 1969, Canada had legislated to decriminalize homosexuality. This film tells the story of some of these victims, of the persecution they suffered, of their lives marked with a hot iron because of memories of inhumane interrogations. Over the years, some have even lost their lives... But women and men revolted against their government, initiated legal proceedings which lasted for many years and which finally led to the official apologies of 2017. This film propels us with great emotion into the story of these courageous fighters who survived the LGBT Purge… but at what cost.
